MA is a Japanese word that can be translated as “gap”, “space”, “pause”
“the empty space between two elements”, either spatial or temporal,
or in relations.
MA is the awareness of the distance that exists between two points.
MA is the right distance between things, moments, people. MA is the in-between, a break, a relations within the sides
MA is the emptiness full of meaning.

To place the most precious object along the central line is an important rule, but it must be put slightly off- center. This gap, this vacuum is the MA. It’s not the absence of something, but the heart of things.

We are not looking for talents but for the MA they harbour, as shown in their works and pictures. We want to point it out and to let its essence come through.
Each selected picture will contribute to the collective search for the meaning of MA. In this way we will be able to improve our understanding of this essential concept of life and art, in order to move and inspire us, and above all to envelope ourselves and plunge into MA, in this break, in this distance, in this pause full of meaning.
We will accompany the selected pictures with a few words to help us capture and enjoy at its best the sense of MA they transmit.
We are a small team of skilled people (trainers, web designers, communicators) that have been working for a long time in digital culture with a shared passion for photography and art.
We are used to fighting against the sense of emptiness, against insignificance and standardisation. We attempt to overcome the loss of identity and of recognition by trying to fill our lives and art with as many objects, shapes, colours, lights, movements and spaces as possible. We are constantly seeking a strong meaning in every element: people, nature, matter, facts and events, actions.
MA is a Japanese philosophy that leads us to look for this sense elsewhere: in the gap between these elements, in the pause that comes before or after, in the distance from something or in the void around it, in the relationship between the parts and in the awareness that all of this brings.
